John born 1865. He had ambitions to go abroad, but his parents could not bear to part with another son so he was placed in the safe profession of banking. He married Kate, who produced two sons Roy and Alistair and died. John married again, a Miss Birrel, who gave him another son, Harry, who entered a medical career and became M.O.H. at Dumfries.
