James McAlister Brown

MBM: James born 1861 went to Madras with a firm who were in the Turkey Red trade, with the works along the river banks of the Leven. James was a great football player in his early days, and an ardent golfer later, winning trophies in India in competitions. He retired to "Applegarth", Balloch, whilst my grandfather was still alive, and died there in 1939. He attended my wedding on 6Jun25 and made an entry in his daily record of the weather, maximum and minimum temperatures, etc. He was a very jovial old boy.
