Married Zlotnik, in 1935. Divorced. Married Elgin J.B. Rudell, an Irish Canadian in 1943. Had Thyroid +.

Grace stayed with us in The Parklands for some six days this September, 1969, a pleasant visitor.

Her mother was Margaret Mackay, Mrs. Black, who lost her first husband, but not before he had provided her with a fine family, and who married a Mr. Welsh for her second husband. See her biography.

Grace herself is perhaps a little petite, active, with reddish hair, pale Irish complexion, small mouth and sturdy legs. She was a great talker. She accounted for everyone's behaviour in psycological terms. During her stay she took plenty of notes, and was methodical and indeed penetrating in her questioning. She had, of course, a tape recorder, and both my Margaret and I gave her long instalments on it, interspersed with occasional drinks. She has been a compositor, and in her leisure she paints pictures. I noticed a neat thyroid scar on her neck. Her mother had had a thyroid operation too. She had no rings on her fingers, although twice married.

Her second marriage was to E.J.B.Rudell. He is Canadian-Irish, a Protestant, and is a traveller-salesman in a printing business in Vancouver. By this second marriage she has three children. Grace intends to write the whole history of the Blacks when she gets home, so we will look forward to that.
