Born Taradale, NZ. A feature of the Rose trait in build was a thick body, short in proportion, with almost a barrel-shaped chest. Height was given with length of leg. All chests were inclined to be bronchitic. Don was typical!
He was fond of his nieces and nephews, and in later years of his pennies (?). Worked on Midmar Station farm and after his father's death became its owner.
Died a reasonably wealthy man, but left all his money to Red Cross. Mollie (diabetic) died in Australia on holiday with him in 1950. He died from leaking duodenal ulcer.
