Clerk. Eliza died young (although after five children!)

Born in Glasgow in 1857. With his father he came to F. Steiner and Co. Ltd. Dyeworks and became a clerk there. His life was indeed a short one for at the age of 34 he died, on 16/2/1891. His wife, Eliza Green, was also young when she died. She had worked in a cotton mill as a winder. William and Eliza's five children were then taken over and looked after by an aunt and uncle of the Green family, in Accrington, and their Scottish association became very tenuous.
