Traditionally, there were three William Murrays in succession as crofter tenants at Inchure, a little thatched 'but and ben' in the hamlet of Acheilidh, Strath Fleet.
The name of William Murray III appears on the list of men, aged between 16 and 60, judged by the Parish Minister of Rogart (supported by two elders) as fit to serve in the Government Forces raised to quell the Rebellion of Prince Charles Edward in the year 1745. It is quite likely that the three John Macdonalds of Shin-ness on the same list may include one who is an ancestor, If so, these two men would not see much fighting, as the men from the County had only to garrison the town of Inverness against the returning Jacobite Army. They would not be involved in the Battle of Culloden.
