Born in Dumbartonshire, Scotland. Sailed to NZ with brothers John and James Ure, about 1865. Farmer at first, then became Head Teacher. Married Eliza King, who died 1847 [This must be wrong! RHM]. Married Sarah. Adopted daughter. Wrote a school text book on farming. Died Auckland.
