John Robert Mackay

I find that John R. Mackay, of 3rd Rifle Brigade, N.Z. Forces was killed on the 15th September 1916 at the Battle for Martinpuich on the Somme. His grave is not known. His name is commemorated on the Caterpillar Valley Memorial, Longueval, France. He and I, of Generation D, might quite easily have exchanged fates that day. We were sons of first cousins.
