Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year

Sri Mariamman Temple, Chinatown, Singapore

This picture, which appears on my Christmas card for 2005, was taken with a digital camera in May of the same year at the side of the Mariamman Hindu Temple, which is located in the middle of the Chinatown in Singapore.

Singapore is a small country with a diverse population. The bulk of the population are ethnic Chinese (76%), followed by Malays (14%) and Indians (8%). These groups live together in harmony and it is therefore quite appropriate that the city's oldest Hindu temple is situated in the middle of Chinatown.
